About This Spot

Walking into Brat Haus in New Smyrna Beach feels like stepping into a well-loved neighborhood retreat — unpretentious, warmly lit, and inviting without fuss. The pace here is comfortably unhurried, perfect for sinking into conversation over a plate that’s generous and thoughtfully prepared. It’s a spot where good company and satisfying food naturally unfold side by side.

The atmosphere hints at hearty, straightforward comfort with a touch of familiar cheer. Rustic accents and the lively buzz of chatter and clinking glasses strike a harmonious balance between casual ease and an earnest attention to detail. Whether you settle at the bar or find a seat inside, you’re met with a sense of steady rhythm — attentive without ever feeling rushed, offering space to relax and savor.

The menu captures the spirit of a well-crafted American restaurant grounded in tradition but open to a few spirited twists. It’s the kind of place where the snack of spicy fried pickles or warm pretzel bites sets the tone for a meal that’s rich in flavor and satisfying portions. From sausages steeped in savory character to indulgent house desserts, each bite seems rooted in simple pleasures, with dishes that invite sharing and lingering over. There’s a palpable joy in exploring such flavors alongside a perfectly poured beer or a classic cocktail, served by staff who clearly know their craft without ever losing that friendly touch.

Brat Haus doesn’t shout for attention, but quietly earns its place as a local gem. It’s where a clean, comfortable setting meets well-loved recipes, and the food tells a story that feels both familiar and fulfilling. For those who appreciate an unassuming spot with a little heart and a hefty plate, this is the kind of place worth returning to — a subtle reminder that sometimes, the best moments come simply from good food, warm welcomes, and the company you keep.

We are cheap. So we ordered the Schnitzel with the noodles, it was so big that splitting the plate, we had plenty of food for two. Next time I want to save room for their desserts.

Chris, our bartender, was awesome! He was knowledgeable about all the beers and cocktails, and gave great recommendations. He chatted with us but also kept a keen eye on the bar and never missed serving his patrons. His barback, Connor, kept up a good pace and was always active. We ate at the bar but the servers looked to be excellent too. My only complaint would be the hostess who I thought was an owner by her loud and bossy attitude with her fellow coworkers. She seemed friendly enough with some patrons but we were grateful every time she left our vicinity. If not for Chris and the excellent food and beverages we would not have spent what we did and stayed as long as we did. We will definitely come back soon!

Unassuming little gem. Immediately impressed with the cleanliness and decor. Uncomplicated menu. Had 2 apps - extremely well priced and absolutely delicious. Our entrees were fantastic and HUGE in size!!! Service was great. This place is such a treat!! Support this local business!!!!!

My husband and I tried Brat Haus for lunch for the first time, and we were so impressed! The food and service were both amazing. My husband had the pork schnitzel — a generous portion that could easily serve two — and I tried the weisswurst for the first time, which was seasoned perfectly. We also ordered an apple dumpling to go, and it was huge and absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be going back!

Had the pork beer brats, very good. Service was great. Will be back. Small thing, the water tasted like well water, wasn’t good.

This is a neat little place tucked off the size of the road. Small, yes, with only 4 tables inside but very clean and neat and the food was very good! We had their apple dumpling (more of a glorious apple dumpling ice cream sundae) that was fantastic. Also shared their jagerschnitzle (huge). That was also great and their prices are great too! Recommended! Update 6/29/22 We're back in town and stopped by again. Still a great place. Very friendly, great service and, once again, had the jagerschnitzle. Couldn't possibly finish it all! Jagerschnitzle, kartoffln (a German side dish) with mushroom gravy. $15 and enough to make 2 meals! Delicious! To stuffed to get the dumpling this time. A customer next to us for a hamburger that looked incredible! Recommended... again!

Food was great. Quick service. The staff was super cool. The place was super clean. When I went in, no one was there and the 2 employees where cleaning! Not like most places where staff would just be hanging around on their phones. Little things like that show me the kind of service I’m about to get. My 1st time there and I was nothing less than impressed. Awesome place next to the new Smyrna airport (where I’m working) glad I found this spot. Recommend checking them out.

This is the definition of a local gem. Little local eatery specializing in brats. And they’re nailing it with 7 different flavors plus 6 different toppings. I ordered the Pork Brat with the add-on of perigees and sauerkraut. It was delicious and the bun made it magical. Exactly what I was expecting! The perigees were baked, so they were crispy (something I’m not used to) but they were ok. I don’t usually eat sauerkraut but this was good with lots of bacon bits. My wife got the Polish Sausage Brat. She enjoyed it and gave me a taste. Nicely seasoned. They have lots of other sandwiches, apps, burgers and wraps so I’m sure you can find something you like. We will definitely come back the next time we’re in the area.
